More Halloween Jewelry

I worked on some more soldered jewelry for Halloween today. I made another fun witch with the word “Wicked” and an old rusty star in a microscope slide pendant, I stamped an image of Edgar Allen Poe with a raven on his head on an old book page with the word “Nevermore” and cut a microscope slide in half to make a smaller pendant for a cute little wizard in a starry hat, his says “Cast a Spell”. I added a black patina to the solder to make them black and aged looking.

Patina is easy to use, it’s a liquid that comes in a bottle (you can get it on-line or at a stain glass store), just put some on a cotton ball and rub it on clean solder, it changes color right away by a cool chemical reaction.

I love the images you’ve used for these…very striking!

You do such nice soldered jewelry pieces! The black patina is perfect for these.

By the way, I recently borrowed Tim Holtz’s first video/DVD from the library. It’s called “An Altered Journey”. One of the techniques he shows is how to make pieces like these using embossing powder melted in a Melting Pot instead of soldering. A “faux soldering” look. Thought you might be interested.
