A while ago a friend cleaned out her craft closet and gave me lots of cool stuff to play with. One of the things she gave me was a bag of angel wings she’d removed from some old ornaments. It took awhile to figure out what I wanted to do with them but I got the crazy idea to mount a small canvas on the front and I came up with…The Queen of Flight. There’s layers of vintage paper, felt, rhinestones, book text, a vintage button and a charm dangling from the bottom too. I think she’s ready to take flight!

Here’s a couple more recent Halloween soldered charms and one not so Halloween
This first is a tiny black domino, I used white permanent ink to stamp on the dancing skeletons, this is perfect for Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos.

This soldered glass pendant is a cool vintage hanging bat stamp I found on Etsy. I stamped him on vintage dictionary paper.

This last one is sooooo spooky….NOT
It’s a Queen Bee charm necklace, the large soldered domino has beehive paper and a silver bee charm, the smaller says Queen and there is also a large silver crown charm.

These are all available in my Etsy shop.

Continuing with an ocean theme, I made this mermaid collage. I’ve done lots of collage art with fairies inside jars and I thought why not a mermaid? So I turned the jar on it’s side and put actual sand in the bottom. I also added a background of vintage inspired map paper, a label, some actual small sea shells and a real working compass. Then I wrapped the entire canvas in some netting. I love how it turned out. I need to think of more things to capture in jars

This collage is currently available in my Etsy shop.

I got out my bees wax last week and made some encaustic collages.
The first is on a small 3×3 canvas with a blue bird and cage on vintage music sheet paper and a quote from William Blake. I coated the entire front with melted wax and then wrapped the edges with ribbon and added a vintage wooden game piece.

This next one I wanted to look like a page from a naturalists notebook. It’s a small canvas board on top of a larger canvas board, both covered in wax. The quote is on fabric and I added some faux grass for the nest, some scrabble tiles, part of a wooden measuring stick and ink pen nib.

I found the cutest little canvas boards at the craft store a few weeks ago! I’ve used the larger sizes for a long time and was thrilled to find these mini ones. I personally like boards instead of stretched canvas for a lot of projects, they are sturdy and ”firm”, you don’t have that sagging in the middle of a regular canvas.
I thought they were the perfect size for magnets so I made a couple of birds and a fairy one too. Perfect for a little art on your fridge or file cabinet.

These are currently available in my Etsy Shop.
