Charmed
Monday, October 1st, 2012I recently made several domino charms and charm necklaces for Fall and Halloween. Each domino is colored with ink and stamped with an image and then soldered around the edges.
This first one is all about one of my favorite poets Edgar Allan Poe, the round charm is a vintage wooden game piece and there is also a metal ink pen nib.
I love this cool owl image, I added another game piece with the word “who”
This one is a play on the term “skeleton key”, dancing skeletons on the domino, a metal key and skull bead
This tiny pumpkin charm also has a little leaf bead on it
and last but not least Ichabod better beware, the headless horseman is riding…..
These are currently available in my Etsy Shop.

Cutting Up
Monday, September 17th, 2012Made some cute cards with my new Cricut Mini die cutting machine. I like this mini machine better than any of the other Cricuts I’ve tried. It hooks to your computer and it’s so much easier to see what you’re doing, change sizes and make adjustments on the computer screen.
I love this cool Bride of Frankenstein, she’s from the Movable Monsters collection.
This cute owl come from the Create a Critter cartridge, it has such adorable animals and accessories to go with them.
If you’d like a chance to win a Cricut Mini I’m having a giveaway over on the Craft Gossip blog, click here for the post and enter.

Walkin’ in a Winter Wonderland…..
Wednesday, January 25th, 2012It seems strange to be making a winter card right now, this has got to be one of the mildest winters in Ky I can ever remember! But the challenge this time over at Lawnscaping is Winter Wonderland so I broke out my Making Frosty Friends and Critters in the Forest sets. This cute little snowy owl is sporting earmuffs and sitting on a tree stump that’s covered in liquid applique snow and glitter. The background paper is from Close To My Heart and I thought it went perfectly with the stamped images.
Woo-Hoo
Friday, August 19th, 2011This card is for the latest challenge over at Lawnscaping. This time around the challenge is a one layer card, wow, that’s a tough one
I needed to make a card for my stepdad’s birthday so I thought I make this card for him.
I think masking is a good way to add depth without actually adding layers. For my card I used a craft cardstock base and stamped the owl and tree trunk from the Lawn Fawn Critters of the Forest set and colored them with Prismacolor pencils. I then used a masking material from Stampendous and die cut a circle and placed that over the owl and then stamped the wood stamp from Stampabilities over top. To add more depth and ground it a bit better I used a thin black marker to go around the opening and edges of the wood design. I also added the sentiment from the same set. It’s a little more clean and simple than I normally do but I think it’s fun and masculine too.
Went to Sea in a Beautiful Pea Green Boat
Sunday, April 24th, 2011I am SO happy with the way this card turned out. It’s my second for the latest Lawnscaping “Critters” challenge. I got to thinking about the different animals in the sets and realized one has an owl and another has a cat, so I die cut a boat for an Owl and the Pussycat card. Stamps are from Lawn Fawn, papers are from My Minds Eye and the boat die cut is a Silhouette shape.
Look it up in the Dictionary
Sunday, August 23rd, 2009Wow, where has August gone?? I’ve been so busy and I’ve really neglected my blog, sorry!
This week I was a soldering fool
and made a ton of new pendants, I’ll be posting them here and for sale in my Etsy shop ( http://www.PisforPaper.etsy.com ) over the next week or so. I wanted to get a little early start on Halloween so alot of them are for my favorite holiday, Halloween!
I’ve been continuing to cut up the fabulous vintage dictionary I got awhile ago and here are a few pendants with some of the wonderful illustrations.
This is very Poe inspired, plus I have a thing for ravens and crows. The back includes the definition for “nevermore”
Really pretty owl illustration
and a funny one, a concertina with the words “I heart Polka” added
Forest Fairytale
Friday, March 20th, 2009I recently got a super cute stamp set of forest animals and made some Artist Trading cards with them. I layered brown and black cardstock and then added a layer cut from a vintage children’s story book and stamped tiny stars on the book paper. Then I stamped the images, cut them out and mounted them with foam tape and then added Tim Holts’ distress Stickles glitter glue to each image. It adds a nice bit of color and chunky glitter but it’s more of an aged glitter look like German glass glitter than more traditional “sparkly” glitters, it’s really fun to use. Just a note I find it takes quite awhile to dry though so keep that in mind when using it.
“Sing” The first one is a deer in the forest, I stamped a tree trunk onto a scalloped I die cut and added a cute bluebird in the tree.
”Frog Prince” This next one is an adorable frog, I added a big gold crown to him. I stamped the crown on a thin metal gold sheet and then embossed it with a stylus tool then cut it out.
“Whoo?” The last one is an owl, he’s sitting on a stamped branch with cut out paper leaves.
My Collagey Valentine
Wednesday, January 14th, 2009Made a couple of collage art Valentine cards today.
The first one is an image of a vintage couple, I mounted them on scallop edged black paper to look more like the old photos that have that type of edge, added some vintage lace and a pink paper heart with the word “love” cut from an old book. The background is vintage music paper that’s been stitched onto cardstock on my sewing machine and then mounted onto a pink card. There is also an old looking key tied with pink rick rack ribbon. The inside of the cards says “You hold the key to my HEART”
The next one is another of my felt owls (I’ve done other cards and ATC’s with him) sitting on a stamped branch, he’s also on vintage music paper surrounded by falling pink stamped hearts that’s stitched onto cardstock and mounted on a pink card. The outside says “Whooo Loves You” and the inside says “I do!”.
All stamps used are by Close To My Heart
