Take Flight

Thursday, April 18th, 2013

A while ago a friend cleaned out her craft closet and gave me lots of cool stuff to play with. One of the things she gave me was a bag of angel wings she’d removed from some old ornaments. It took awhile to figure out what I wanted to do with them but I got the crazy idea to mount a small canvas on the front and I came up with…The Queen of Flight. There’s layers of vintage paper, felt, rhinestones, book text, a vintage button and a charm dangling from the bottom too. I think she’s ready to take flight!

What Time is It?

I love finding small vintage photos! I got a few recently at a antique show and one of them was an amazing Steampunk looking girl! Wearing a top hat and holding a cane she was perfect for a Steampunk/ Victorian inspired charm necklace. I also added vintage watch parts inside a vintage watch crystal along with a cool repro watch key charm. I think this necklace turned out super cool!

For Lenore…..

For this collage I used the raven and skull stamp from Inkadinkado on vintage book paper, it’s embellished with a binder clip and ink pen nib that’s dripping ink. The bottom border is black mesh ribbon, crepe paper and an embossed metal plate that says “nevermore”. I tied some hemp string with a hand and heart charm around the plate. I almost didn’t want to sell it I love it so much but I’ve listed it in my Etsy shop :)

My Dear Mr. Darcy,

Here’s a charm bracelet inspired by one of my all time favorite authors, Jane Austen. I stamped and shrunk a silhouette of a woman from shrink plastic, soldered two scrabble tiles and added dictionary words to each, along with a hand holding a heart charm and a ink pen nib. I’m really happy with how it turned out.
