Woo-Hoo

This card is for the latest challenge over at Lawnscaping. This time around the challenge is a one layer card, wow, that’s a tough one 🙂 I needed to make a card for my stepdad’s birthday so I thought I make this card for him.

I think masking is a good way to add depth without actually adding layers. For my card I used a craft cardstock base and stamped the owl and tree trunk from the Lawn Fawn Critters of the Forest set and colored them with Prismacolor pencils. I then used a masking material from Stampendous and die cut a circle and placed that over the owl and then stamped the wood stamp from Stampabilities over top. To add more depth and ground it a bit better I used a thin black marker to go around the opening and edges of the wood design. I also added the sentiment from the same set. It’s a little more clean and simple than I normally do but I think it’s fun and masculine too.

Yeah! This card won an Honorable Gnome mention!

A Glittery Hello!

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

This is my second card for the current Lawnscaping Challenge, it’s using a sketch from Jennifer R. This card uses the snail from the Critters in the ‘Burbs set (colored with Prismacolor pencils) and the “hello” from the “hello foxy” stamp from the Critters in the Forest set. Along with lots of glitter glue for the snails trail and patterned paper from Making Memories.

Like that’s a surprise 🙂 This card is for the current Lawnscaping challenge, this time around it’s a sketch from Jennifer R. I used the squirrel and acorn stamps from the Lawn Fawn Critters in the ‘Burbs set colored with Prismacolor pencils. The words are from Hello Friend from Close To My Heart and the pattern paper is My Mind’s Eye.

Hug Me!

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

Here’s my latest entry for the current Lawnscaping Challenge, the theme is Clean and Simple. Boy, is that a hard one for me! 🙂 I love pattern paper backgrounds, grunge, embellishments, inking edges, etc., etc. and clean and simple is not my usual style. But I really love the card I made. The little octopus from the Critter of the Sea set is just so cute and she wants to hug you with all eight of her arms 🙂

The pattern paper is from DCWV, the tiny flower and alpha stamps are from Close to My Heart, die cuts from Nestabilities, ribbon from Martha Stewart, home made baker’s twine, octopus and bubbles stamps from Lawn Fawn.

These are the stamps of our lives….

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

I just got some really cute stamps from The Stamps of Life and had fun making a couple of cards with them.

This first card combines two sets “banners4all” and “tress2build”. I used all polka dotted images from both sets to go along with the polka dot paper from Echo Park. I used Close To My Heart Inks for both cards, they really do have the best inks for clear stamps. I love the little birdies, so sweet!

This next card uses the “kites2fly” set, it has lots of different patterns for great combinations. I also love the sayings in this set, lots of uplifting (ha,ha) phrases.

Greetings!

Are you ready for the holidays? The house is decorated, I’ve gotten all my gifts bought and wrapped, and my cards made and mailed, I think I’m ready! I wanted to share a few of my holiday cards with you today.

This first one was inspired by Tim Holtz (I love his 12 Tags of Christmas each year!) I stamped the image (from Recollections) with black Staz-On ink and then took cosmetic sponges to rub the red and green inks over the images, blending as I went. I added some sparkle with Tim’s Distressed Stickles too.

This next one I stamped the snow globe and snowman (from Inkadinkado) on vellum and colored on the backside of the vellum with colored pencils, it gives it a nice soft look.

This cute little scene was put together from stamps from a few different companies, the deer is Colorbox, the snowflakes and text from Inkdinkado, the tree and bird from Close To My Heart. The deer was kinda of plain so I used a black marker to add his eyes and spots, it helped give him more dimension. The berries on the tree were made with the blunt end of a red marker and I added Stickles to the branches and on the ground around the tree and deer for lots of sparkle.

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!!
