More Halloween Jewelry

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

I worked on some more soldered jewelry for Halloween today. I made another fun witch with the word “Wicked” and an old rusty star in a microscope slide pendant, I stamped an image of Edgar Allen Poe with a raven on his head on an old book page with the word “Nevermore” and cut a microscope slide in half to make a smaller pendant for a cute little wizard in a starry hat, his says “Cast a Spell”. I added a black patina to the solder to make them black and aged looking.

Patina is easy to use, it’s a liquid that comes in a bottle (you can get it on-line or at a stain glass store), just put some on a cotton ball and rub it on clean solder, it changes color right away by a cool chemical reaction.

The Moon is Out

Monday, September 15th, 2008

I did this Halloween collage last night. I painted the 4×5 canvas with blue paint and then used some of Tim Holtz’s cool new “Old Paper” crackle paint over it, and then aged it with inks. I used an image of an adorable little girl and sat her on some toadstools I had stamped and colored and added some torn old book pages on the bottom. Then added a hat to my girl and a brass toad charm in her lap. I added some grosgrain ribbon around the canvas edges to hide the staples so it doesn’t need to be framed. Isn’t she cute?:)

More Spooky ATC’s

Monday, September 8th, 2008

I’ve made another batch of Halloween ATC’s. I made a brother for my little girl pumpkin fairy, a felt owl, the Headless Horseman jumping over hills, a Raven to go with Poe and another black cat, this one is under a piece of mica.

Boo to you!

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Here are some Halloween ATC’s I did, using a mixture of collage and stamping, plus I used my new sewing machine (yeah!) to stitch around two of them. The black cat one is called “Fraidy Cat” and features a real German paper scrap. The witch class is called “Be Unique” and features an old school class photo that I turned into Mrs. Warts first grade spells class where all the students are wearing their black hats except for Alice who is wearing a pretty pink hat with a sparkle on top. The “Pumpkin Fairy” features and old photo of a little girl with a carved pumpkin, I added bat wings to her to make her a cool little fairy. The other is called “Poe” and features a stamped image of Edgar Allen Poe with a raven on his head and the words “Nevermore” and some different alphabet beads spell out “Poe”. I also made a neat little envelope box out of cardstock and pattern paper that ties closed with a ribbon, perfect for storing your ATC’s in.
