Dashing Through the Snow

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011

Here’s my card for the latest Lawnscaping challenge, the theme this time is embossing.

Photobucket

I chose to do both wet and dry embossing on my card. I embossed the bunny from Lawn Fawn’s Winter Bunny in white on craft cardstock, I love this look, it really pops. I added some subtle color to his scarf and the sled with markers. I also heat embossed some liquid applique on his tail for a little puff. I used the swirl embossing folder from Cuttlebug for the snow and my background paper, adding glitter to the embossed swirl on the snow. The sentiment is from the Lawn Fawn Critters of the Sea set.

Woo-Hoo

This card is for the latest challenge over at Lawnscaping. This time around the challenge is a one layer card, wow, that’s a tough one 🙂 I needed to make a card for my stepdad’s birthday so I thought I make this card for him.

I think masking is a good way to add depth without actually adding layers. For my card I used a craft cardstock base and stamped the owl and tree trunk from the Lawn Fawn Critters of the Forest set and colored them with Prismacolor pencils. I then used a masking material from Stampendous and die cut a circle and placed that over the owl and then stamped the wood stamp from Stampabilities over top. To add more depth and ground it a bit better I used a thin black marker to go around the opening and edges of the wood design. I also added the sentiment from the same set. It’s a little more clean and simple than I normally do but I think it’s fun and masculine too.

Yeah! This card won an Honorable Gnome mention!

What Big Eyes You Have

Tuesday, August 9th, 2011

Here’s my latest card for the Lawnscaping challenge. The theme this time around is distressing, right up my alley! I wanted to make a Little Red Ridding Hood card so I used stamps from the Lawn Fawn “Critters in the Forest” set, turning the fox into the wolf and Red is from The Greeting Farm. To get my distressed look I inked up the edges of a lot of the paper and stamped images. I also used a distressing tool to rough up the edges of the trees and red polka dot paper. The brown background is a white core cardstock that I sanded. I like how this card is a little sinister, the wolf is pining for little Miss Hood. 😉

I’d like to be, under the sea…..

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

The latest Lawnscaping challenge theme is “Don’t forget the inside”. I usually do and just stamp a sentiment on the inside of my cards 🙂 On the front of the card I used my Silhouette to cut an SVG from Lettering Delights, it’s part of a submarine, I just enlarged the porthole and cut only it out. I added grey brads for the bolts and a clear transparency sheet underneath for the “glass”. On the inside is the dolphin from the Lawn Fawn “Critters of the Sea” set, along with bubbles and the sentiment.

A Glittery Hello!

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

This is my second card for the current Lawnscaping Challenge, it’s using a sketch from Jennifer R. This card uses the snail from the Critters in the ‘Burbs set (colored with Prismacolor pencils) and the “hello” from the “hello foxy” stamp from the Critters in the Forest set. Along with lots of glitter glue for the snails trail and patterned paper from Making Memories.

Like that’s a surprise 🙂 This card is for the current Lawnscaping challenge, this time around it’s a sketch from Jennifer R. I used the squirrel and acorn stamps from the Lawn Fawn Critters in the ‘Burbs set colored with Prismacolor pencils. The words are from Hello Friend from Close To My Heart and the pattern paper is My Mind’s Eye.

Hug Me!

Tuesday, June 7th, 2011

Here’s my latest entry for the current Lawnscaping Challenge, the theme is Clean and Simple. Boy, is that a hard one for me! 🙂 I love pattern paper backgrounds, grunge, embellishments, inking edges, etc., etc. and clean and simple is not my usual style. But I really love the card I made. The little octopus from the Critter of the Sea set is just so cute and she wants to hug you with all eight of her arms 🙂

The pattern paper is from DCWV, the tiny flower and alpha stamps are from Close to My Heart, die cuts from Nestabilities, ribbon from Martha Stewart, home made baker’s twine, octopus and bubbles stamps from Lawn Fawn.

Went to Sea in a Beautiful Pea Green Boat

Sunday, April 24th, 2011

I am SO happy with the way this card turned out. It’s my second for the latest Lawnscaping “Critters” challenge. I got to thinking about the different animals in the sets and realized one has an owl and another has a cat, so I die cut a boat for an Owl and the Pussycat card. Stamps are from Lawn Fawn, papers are from My Minds Eye and the boat die cut is a Silhouette shape.

Make a Splash!

Sunday, April 24th, 2011

Here’s a card for another Lawnscaping challenge. The theme this time is “Critters”, of course I couldn’t resist make a couple of cards. This one will actually be my step mothers birthday card, she and my dad just got back from Florida and I thought this would be perfect with the sweet dolphin. Stamp is from Lawn Fawn and the pattern papers are from My Mind’s Eye.
